Kilmore GAA Club Notes 5th June 2018

County Cup

We were due to play Shannon Gaels on Sunday last but they conceded the game so we have now qualified for the next round. 


Junior Team

Our junior team are due to play Boyle this Sunday in Kilmore at 2pm in the Division 5 league. 


Underage 

Hard luck to our U-12 team who were defeated in the Spring league final on Monday last. Our U-12 team play St Ronans this Wednesday evening in the Keenan cup in Ballyfarnon at 7pm. Our U-14 Div 2 County final will be played this Sunday the 10th of June where we will play the winners of Oran and Kilglass/St Barrys. 


Club Rossie 

Club Rossie annual draw tickets are now on sale for 2018. Bronze Tickets cost €100 for 1 entry in to a draw with a chance to win a top prize of €20,000 and also entry into a draw to win All Ireland football and hurling final tickets. Gold tickets cost €230. Included in this package is 4 entries into a draw to win €20,000, an exclusive Roscommon polo shirt, car sticker and entry into a draw to win All Ireland football and hurling finals tickets. Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket is asked to contact Brian Carroll, Michael Mcguire or Carmelita Caslin.

Well done to Pearlie Burke who won the 50/50 jackpot last weekend of €205. Our €25 winner of confined draw of the  yearly ticket was Jack Sharkey. Our other €25 winners were Colin Hanly, Paul Lenehan and John Connor. Thanks to Mervyn Foley and his team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Pamela McGaurans team. The club congratulates Paul Garvey & Sarah McManus who got married on Friday last and we wish them the best of luck in the future. The club extends its sympathy to Charlie Burke and Bernadette Fitzmaurice on the recent death of their brother Pat in the USA.

Junior League 

Our junior league team were defeated on Sunday last in Ballinlough by Michael Glaveys in the league by 4 points on a scoreline of 3-12 to 2-11. Kilmore team was as follows Anthony Carroll, Liam Caslin, Padraig Earley, Charlie Burke (0-1), Willie O Flynn, Damien Tiernan, Peter Sheridan (0-1), Padraic King (0-1), Jim Gilchrest (0-4), Cathal Carney (2-2), Daniel Burke, Paul McElhone (0-2), Donal Nevin. Next up for our junior team is a championship clash with Elphin this weekend. 


All County Cup

On this Sunday at 3.30pm our intermediate team play Shannon Gaels in the 1st round of the All County cup in Ballyfarnon at 3.30pm on Sunday. 


Underage 

Our U-12 team are awaiting confirmation of the date for their County final against Castlerea. Our Taylor cleaning sponsored U-14 team play in league final on Sunday the 10th of June. 


Other news

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night in Brackens, Hillstreet and Mervyn Foleys team are on selling duty. Thanks to everyone who attended the up for the match in Jamestown on Friday night last. The club wishes Paul Garvey & Sarah McManus the very best of luck as they get married this Friday.

Juniors

Our Junior team got their Championship campaign off to a winning start by defeating Michael Glaveys 3-8 to 2-6. The team and scorers were as follows Anthony Carroll, Peter Glancy, Padraig Earley, Gary Clyne, Danny Collins, Paul Beirne, Paddy Doyle, Peter Sheridan, Padraic King, Ben Donohue, Mark McEvoy, Karol Foley (0-1), Ryan McLoughlin (0-1), Donal Carroll (3-1), Oisin Boland (0-5), Subs used Jim Gilchriest, Jason McEvoy, Daniel Burke and Ray McMahon. The junior B team play round 2 of the championship this Friday evening at 8.30pm against Kilbride in Kilbride. 


Underage 

Our U-14 Div 2 team defeated Kilglass/St Barrys on Thursday evening last. On Friday evening our U-16 team recorded a great 2 point win over Clan na nGael in the league semi final playoff. They will now face Padraig Pearses in the Div 1 league semi final. Our Div 4 U-14 team defeated Padraig Pearses. On Wednesday next our U-12 team play Kilglass in Kilglass at 7.40pm. On Thursday our U-14 Div 2 team play St Ciarans in Fuerty at 8pm. On Sunday next our U-14 Div 4 team play St Dominics in Ballyfarnon at 2pm. 


Ladies 

Hard luck to our junior ladies team who were defeated by a very strong Castlerea team on Sunday last in the Div 4 league final. We wish the team the best of luck for the championship. Well done to our U-12 ladies who had a great win at the weekend. 


Other news

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night at 10pm in the Silver Eel. Trevor Hunts team are on selling duty and tickets are on sale throughout the parish. Our annual €100 tickets are also now due for renewal and its hoped the draw will take place this weekend.

Intermediate Championship
Our King & Moffat sponsored intermediate team were defeated on Saturday evening last by Fuerty in Kilmore. Our next league game is on Saturday the 19th of May against Shannon Gaels. Thanks to everyone who helped out in anyway on Saturday evening last in hosting the game in Kilmore. 

Junior Championship
Our junior B team begin their championship campaign this Sunday when we face Michael Glaveys B in Kilmore at 4pm. Best of luck to the team. 

Annual Draw
Our €100 annual draw tickets are now on sale and a member of the Finance Committee will be contacting people this week. We have 3 draws with a top prize of €1,000 in each draw.  

Underage 
Our minor team defeated Roscommon Gaels last week and have now qualified for the Division 2 league final and this will be played next month. Our U-12 team defeated Eire Og on Saturday last. Our U-14 division 2 team defeated Elphin/Ballinameen to make it three wins from three so far this year. On Wednesday next our U-12 team play St Ronans in Ballyfarnon at 7pm. On Thursday our U-14 division 2 team play Kilglass/St Barrys in Kilmore at 7.30pm. On Friday our U-16 team play Clann na nGael in the league semi final play off at 7.30pm. On Saturday next our U-12 team play Oran in Kilmore at 12pm. On Sunday next our U-14 Div 4 team play Padraig Pearses at 11am in Woodmount. 

Ladies
Our junior ladies recorded a great win against St Croans in the league semi final on Sunday last and they now meet Castlerea in the final. Our U-12 girls are playing this weekend in the northern league. 

Other news
Well done to Ryan McElhone who won our 50/50 jackpot of €554 on Sunday night last. Our €25 winner for yearly members was Colin Hanly and our other €25 winners were Sam Boyle, Martin Murray and James Murray. Thanks to Brian Carroll and his team of sellers. Intermediate Championship

Our King & Moffat sponsored intermediate team just fell short on Saturday evening last as we lost by 1 point to Tulsk in the 1st round of the championship in Boyle. We are back again in championship action this Saturday evening when we host Fuerty in round 2 of the championship at 6pm in Kilmore. We will need help with stewarding etc so anyone who is available is asked to meet at the pitch at 4.45pm. 


Underage 

Our U-12 team were beaten by Castlerea in their opening game of the spring league. Our U-16 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels were awarded the points in their game against Boyle. Our minor team play Roscommon Gaels in the league semi final on Wednesday evening at 7pm in Ballyfarnon. On Thursday our U-14 Div 2 team play Elphin/Ballinameen in Elphin at 7pm. Our U-12 team play Eire Og in Kilmore at 12pm on Saturday. 


Coaching

Well done to our 17 Club members who completed the Foundation level coaching course and also the Child safety course last week. Thanks to our coaching officer Donal Carroll for organising the event. 


Ladies 

The Junior ladies play St Croans in the semi final of the league next Sunday. The U-16 team lost to Clann na nGael by 3 points after a great second half performance. They play Padraig Pearses next. 


Annual Draw

Our €100 annual draw tickets are now on sale. We have 3 draws, one in April, August and December with the 1st prize in each draw €1,000. Tickets cost €100 for 3 entries into each draw or €50 for 1 entry. Each person will receive a letter this week in relation to the tickets and we would ask for your support. 


Other News

This weeks 50/50 draw takes place in Earleys Hillstreet on Sunday night at 10pm. Brian Carrolls team are on selling duty and tickets are on sale throughout the parish. The club wishes our team manager Gerry Garvey a very happy birthday this week. The club extends its sympathy to the Farrell family of the Curries on the recent death of Liam Farrell.

O Gara Cup
Our King & Moffat sponsored O Gara cup team drew with Oran on Saturday last in Kilmore on a score line of 0-10 to 1-7. We led for most of the game but a strong Second half performance by Oran saw them secure a point. Kilmore team was Alan Glancy, Mark Connellan, Jack Sharkey, Charlie Burke, Kevin Caslin, Colm Garvey, Gary Connellan, Paul McElhone, Joe Garvey, Dermot Foley, Dara Feeley (0-1), Brian Connellan Ray Caslin (0-4), Derek Connellan (0-3), John Gannon (0-2). Subs used Fiachara Doyle, Oisin Boland, Cathal Carney, Liam Caslin. The club thanks everyone who helped out in anyway in the hosting of this game on Saturday last. Our next league game is against Shannon Gaels in Ballyfarnon on the 19th of May. The intermediate championship begins this weekend and all roads lead to Boyle as we face Tulsk at 6.45pm on Saturday evening. We wish the team and management the best of luck and we encourage as much support as possible to come out on Saturday evening. 

Underage 
Our Div 4 U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels/St Ronans defeated St Bridgets on sunday last. Our U-16 team was defeated by Padraig Pearses and St Bridgets but we then defeated St Aidans. On this saturday our U-12 team begin their spring league campaign when we take on Castlerea in Castlerea at 12pm. On Sunday our U-16 team play their final league game against Boyle in Boyle at 11am. Our foundation level coaching course takes place on this Tuesday and Wednesday and our Child safety course takes place on Thursday evening. Anyone who wishes to attend or requires more details is asked to contact our coaching officer Donal Carroll on 0868403617.

Ladies Football 
The junior ladies team were defeated by Castlerea in the league at the weekend. They have qualified for the semi final and will play this match in 2 weeks. The U-16 girls play Clann na ngael this weekend in the championship. On Friday night last our U-12 and U-16 team of 2016 and 2017 were presented with their medals at a special event in Brackens Hillstreet. Thanks to our special guest Brian Carroll who presented the medals. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the event. A Silver package also also available costing €180 for players or €160 for non players. In the silver package each person will receive 3 entries into each 50/50 draw for the next 12 months, Club membership for 2018, Kilmore GAA Bobble hat and car sticker. On each of these packages people will have the option to pay by standing order. A yearly 50/50 ticket costing €120 is also available. Our next draw will take place on Sunday the 22nd of April 2018. The new prize structure will be the jackpot plus 4 prizes of €25. One of these €25 will be confined to the yearly 50/50 tickets. The club wishes Clare Connellan a very happy birthday as she takes one step closer to the big 40. The club also congratulates Damien Tiernan and Emma Dempsey who got married recently. The club reminds all our managers and coaches that the main pitch at the club grounds is closed for all training and matches until further notice.

On this Saturday evening we play Oran in the O Gara cup at 6pm in Kilmore. 

Junior Team
Our junior team got their league campaign off to a winning start on last Saturday by defeating Kilbride in Kilmore. 

Underage 
Our Div 2 U-14 team recorded their second win of the league victory over Western Gaels. Our U-16 team have a busy week ahead. On Friday they play St Aidans in Kilmore at 7pm and on Sunday next they play St Brigids in Kiltoom at 11am. On Sunday next our Div 4 U-14 team play St Brigids in Kilmore at 2.30pm. Our U-12 team have a bye for the first round of the league. 

Ladies 
Our ladies underage presentation night takes place this Friday night. Details will be circulated via text.

Best of luck to our King & Moffat sponsored senior team who play Castlerea this Sunday at 12pm in Kilmore in round 2 of the O Gara cup. 

Underage 
Our minor team defeated St Faithleachs on St Patricks day and have now qualified for the league semi final. On Saturday next our second U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels/St Ronans play Clan na nGael in Johnstoen at 1.30pm. Well done to our U-10 team who played at half time in Hyde Park on Sunday during the Roscommon V Cavan game. Thanks to the following who have sponsored set of jerseys for our teams for 2018 Minor - Masonite, U-16 Glancys Super Valu and U-14 Taylors Cleanimng. 

Ladies Football
The U-16 girls overcame Four Roads and now face Boyle next weekend in the next round of the championship.

Underage

Our minor team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels were beaten by St Aidans on Friday night last. Our U-14 Div 2 team defeated St Michaels on Sunday in the 1st round of the league. On St Patricks day our minors plat St Faithleachs in Kilmore at 12pm in the league. 


Ladies

The junior ladies team kicked off 2018 with a win against Kilbride on Friday night last. The U-16 were defeated by St Brigids and now play Four Roads on Sunday the 18th of March at 4pm in Four Roads. 


Presentation night

A very successful presentation night took place on Friday night last in the Silver Eel with a reat crowd in attendance. the award winners were as follows Senior player of the year : Kevin Caslin, Junior player of the year and winner of the John Glancy memorial cup : Brian Connellan, Club personality of the year : Jenny Connellan, Minor Board personality of the year : Richard O Dowd, Ladies board personality of the year :  Aine Caslin & Jenny Connellan. 3 presentations were also made to 3 couples who got married within the last 12 months Karol & Emma Foley, Jamie & Joannn Sharkey and Padraic & Natasha King. Thanks to Carmelita Caslin & Catherine Casserley who very kindly donated a set of Guard of honour arm bands to the club in honour of their Dad and our late friend Willie Casserley. Thanks to everyone who turned out on the night.
