Kilmore GAA Club Notes 21st June 2021

Junior League
Our Junior team play their 2nd game of the league this Friday evening when we travel to Croghan to play Shannon Gaels B. Best of luck to the team. 

Underage
Hard luck to our U15 division 1 team Kilmore/Shannon Gaels who were defeated by just 1 point in their semi-final against Roscommon Gaels on Sunday. A massive thank you to the players and management for their time and commitment. Well done to our U-13 team who defeated St Marys in a challenge at the weekend. 

Ladies
The U12 girls got their campaign off to a good start by beating Roscommon Gaels II and the followed this up with a win over St. Michaels/St. Ronans. Next up is Eire Og. The U14s put up a great display against Four Roads but just came up short on the day. This game will stand to them over the coming weeks. They play Western Gaels on Thursday. The Junior Ladies won their opening game against St. Michaels/St. Ronans and play St. Croans II next. Thanks to St. Barry's/St. Ronans/St. Michaels for playing our U10s during the week. Congratulations to Aoife Burke, Kate Martin and Heather McElhone on playing on Roscommon U14 teams over the weekend.

50/50 Draw
Our 50/50 draw will take place this Sunday evening at 8pm outdoor. Tickets can be purchased online on our website.

Junior Team 
Our junior team defeated St Barry’s last Friday evening by 1-7 to 0-9. Our team and scorers were Anthony Carroll, Aaron Devaney, Padraig Earley, Matthew Caslin, Daniel Burke, Danny Collins, Cathal Caslin, Peter Sherdian, Charlie Burke, Ben Donohue (0-1), Dara Feely (0-1), Ray Caslin (0-1), Ryan McLoughlin, Paddy McCormack, Derek Connellan (1-4, 0-4 frees). Subs used Cathal Carney.  

50/50 draw 
Well done to JJ McWeeney who won our 50/50 draw last weekend of €238. Our €25 winners were as follows Clare Connellan (yearly), Eleanor McWeeney, Michelle Zimmerman and Patricia Butler. Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets. Thanks to Alan & Majella O Shea for hosting our draw outside the premises. Our next date is in 2 weeks. 

Underage 

The completion of last years U14 Championships are set to go ahead. We wish our U15 division 1 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels the very best of luck in the semi-final against Roscommon Gaels next Sunday the 20th of June at 1.15pm in Croghan.


Activity camp 

Our annual activity camp for 2021 takes place from July 26th to July 30th at Kilmore GAA Club grounds from 10am to 3pm. The cost is €65 per child or €120 for 2 children and €165 for 3 children. Activities include GAA, rounders, team building and many more activities. Limited places are available, to book a place contact Clare Connellan 087-9471081. 


Ladies 

It was a great start to the Championship for our U14 girls who beat Clann na nGael 2 in their opening match in Kilmore. The girls travel to Four Roads on Thursday at 7pm. The U12s play Roscommon Gaels 2 in their first match on Monday evening at 6.30pm in Kilmore. Their second game will be played in Kilglass Sunday 20th at 6pm. The Junior Ladies' first game in the Adult League is Sunday morning at 11am in Kilmore

Congratulations to Eoghan Sweeney & Amanda Clyne on the birth of their baby daughter Ellen and we also congratulate our newest granddad Pat Clyne. The club also congratulates our club secretary Michael McGuire and his wife Maureen on their 40th wedding anniversary.

50/50 Draw

 and best wishes to Jack Lannon – who made the Roscommon county minor panel for 2021. 
Sending get well wishes and speedy recoveries to both Matthew Ffrench and Cathal McKeown  - all their friends from the U13 team will be hoping they get better soon and get back out on the field when they are feeling better.

League fixtures 
Our O Gara cup campaign gets underway on the 3rd of July at 7pm when we face Fuerty in Kilmore. On the 10th of July we travel to face Clann Na nGael B. On the 24th of July we host Castlerea at 7pm in Kilmore and our final group game is against St Domincs in Knockcroghery on the 6th of August. Our junior B team begin their league campaign on Friday the 11th June at 8pm in Kilmore against St Barry’s. The full list of fixtures are published on our website. 

Other news 
Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday evening. Tickets are on sale on line via our website. Well done to Jenny Connellan who won our last jackpot of €242. Our €25 winners were Jim King (annual), Eoin Carroll, Trevor Hunt & Carmelita Caslin. The club wishes David Connellan a very happy birthday this week as he hits the 50 mark on Wednesday!

Well done to Rebecca Carroll Griffin London and formerly of Feeragh who won our jackpot of €265. Our 4 winners of €25 were Brian Lavin (yearly), Chloe Connellan, Cathal Caslin and Jenny Connellan. Well done to all our winners and thanks to everyone who purchased tickets. 

Other News
Our underage action returned last week and it was great to see every one of our younger players back on the field. Well done to all our coaches and Minor Committee for getting great numbers out for training. Kilmore GAA wishes our 2 club members Gerry Tiernan and Gerard Fitzmaurice a speedy recovery from their recent surgeries and we look forward to seeing both of them back in action shortly.

Membership 
Membership for 2021 is now due for renewal. The following are the membership fees for the year Adult players - €100, Students - €70, Underage €25 per child and a family of 3 or more costs €60, full social member €30 and social membership (walkway) €25. We would ask for membership to be paid to club registrar Gerard Fitzmaurice. Membership can also be paid by bank transfer to the club, bank details are available from club Treasurer Carmelita Caslin or registrar Gerard Fitzmaurice. Our walkway has proved a valuable addition to our community over the recent times and we would ask everyone using it to please pay their membership. 

Underage 

Training for all underage teams is starting back this week. Registration will take place on the first night of training for all teams. All new members welcome.


Other news 

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night. Online ticket sales close at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased via our website. The club congratulates Patrick Doyle & Lauren O Flynn on the birth of their baby son Tommy.

Well done to Carmelita Caslin who won our 50/50 jackpot of €395. Our winner of our Easter hamper was Junior Caslin and rumour has it Junior had a great night Sunday night eating Easter eggs, drinking wine and eating pringles in Rockville. Our 50/50 draw is back. Our first draw back will take place on this Sunday night Easter Sunday outdoor at 8pm. Tickets cost €2 each or 3 for €5 and can now be purchased via our website www.kilmoregaa.ie

Membership 
We hope to have our membership details confirmed next week and we will circulate information as soon as it is available. 

Other news 
The club extends its sympathy to Marie Crowe and Patricia Holahan on the death of their mother Margaret Diffley, to Yvonne Foley on the death of her mother Noreen Conroy, to Mary Carney and Leo Kavanagh on the death of their sister Rita Doyle and to Teresa Murray on the death of her brother John Joe O Brien. May they all rest in peace.
