Kilmore GAA Club Notes 11th February 2019

Underage 

Our U-16 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels were defeated by Clann na nGael on Sunday by 2-9 to 0-10. On tghis Saturday our U-14 team start their league campaign against Elphin/Ballinameen in Elphin at 12pm. On Sunday our minors play Kilbride in Kilmore at 11am in the opening game of the league. 


Registration Evening 

Our 2019 registration evening takes place this Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm in the club rooms at the pitch. This registration evening is for adult and all underage players. Memberships cost as follows Adult players €50, Students €30, Non playing members €30, Underage players €25. We have family membership for 2 adults and 2 underage players for €100 with each additional underage player costing €20. We also have a family package for 2 adults and 2 children for €150 which includes access for both adult members to the full use of our gym. We also have our annual Gold membership costing €320 which includes annual membership, 3 entries in each 50/50 draw for 12 months, entry into the annual club draw, full access to the walkway and gym, choice of a Kilmore Gillet jacket or waterproof top. Everyone is asked to attend the registration evening where membership can be paid on Friday to our club registrar Geard Fitzmaurice or Minor club treasurer Shane McElhone. 


Walkway

Our walkway is up and running at the pitch and anyone using the walkway must be a member of the club. Membership is available at €25 for any one who wants to join. We also remind people using the walkway that dogs or bikes are not permitted on the walkway. 


Presentation night 

Our annual presentation night takes place on Saturday the 23rd of February 2019 in the Silver Eel. the evening will begin with a mass for all deceased and living members of Kilmore Gaa club at 7pm in St Bridgets Church, Dangan. The presentation night will then take place in the Silver eel with a hot meal been served at 8.30pm. This will be followed by presentations to our players of the year, personality of the year and our club members who got married in 2019. This will then be followed by music from Marty O Briens band Going live. Tickets are excellent value and cost just €15. Tickets must be purchased from any of the following Gerry Tiernan, Michael McGuire or Carmelita Caslin.

Well done to Phillip Martin who won our 50/50 jackpot of €378 on Sunday night last. Our €25 winners were Ann Marie Martin (yearly tickets), Colin Hanly, Heather Mcelhone and Maureen McGuire . Well done to Mervyn Foley and his team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Clare Connellans team. The club extends its sympathy to Carmel Bourke and the Bourke family, Corry on the death of Carmels mother, Nora Flanagan. Congratulations to Damien & Emma Tiernan on the birth of their baby son Rian on Monday. The club also congratulates Tony & Rachel Moran who got married on Saturday last.

Walkway 
Our new walkway is now open at the pitch. Everyone is reminded that to use the walkway you must be either a full or social member of Kilmore GAA club. This is to cover insurance purposes for anybody using the walkway. Social membership of the club costs just €25. 

Fit February 
Kilmore GAA are going for a fit February. We are doing a 28 day challenge for the 28 days of February. A group walk will take place at the new walkway every weekday at 7pm and also at 7.30am for anyone who can’t make the evening walk. Weekend walks will take place at 10am. We are challenging people to walk at least 30 minutes for every day in February. The action begins this Friday the 1st of February at 7.30am and 7pm. 

Finance Committee 
A meeting of Kilmore GAA finance Committee will take place this Tuesday night at 9.30pm at the pitch. 

Other news 
Well done to Shane Mcelhone who won our 50/50 jackpot of €425. Shanes ticket was a yearly ticket. Our €25 winners were JJ Mcweeney (yearly ticket), Ethel Carroll, Alan Hardiman, Gerry Tiernan. Thanks to Pamela McGauran and her team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Mervyn Foleys team. Our annual presentation night will take place on Saturday the 23rd of February in the Silver Eel. The club extends its sympathy to our club president on the death of his sister, Sister Nora Fitzmaurice who passed away in Roscommon at the weekend.

Well done to Conor & Caoimhe Hanly who won our jackpot of €613. Our €25 winners were Ronnie & Mairead, Shane Carroll, Alan Caslin/Jackie Casserley and Martin Caslin. Thanks to Trevor Hunt and his team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Clare Connellans team. Our annual presentation night will take place in the Silver Eel on Saturday the 23rd of February 2019. Well done to our instrumental group who done the club very proud at the Connacht Scor na nog finals on Sunday last. Thanks to the team mentors and parents and everyone who prepared the group.

Our Annual General Meeting took place on Sunday the 16th of December 2018. Peter Joes card game 

Thanks to everyone who purchased and sold tickets for the recent card game. Thanks to Peter Joe Fitzmaurice and JJ McWeeney for organising the event which is a great fundraiser. The over winner was Danny O Rourke and the finalist were Cathal Lavin, Conor Carroll & Ita King. 


Club draw

Our final club draw of 2018 took place on St Stephens day. The winners were as follows €1,000 - Damien Devaney, €400 - John McPartland, €200 - Colin hanly, €100 - Seamus Shiel, yearly ticket for entry into 50/50 draw John & Rose Llyod. 


Ladies walk 

Our ladies committee held a walk on St Stephens day. A great corwd turned out on the day and we thank everyone for their support. 


Scor 

We wish the very best of luck to our instrumental group in Scór Na nÓg Connaxcht final which takes place this Sunday in Claremorris.  The team consists of Grace Collins, Conall Creighton, Luke Creighton,Cathal McKeon and Aoife McGowan. We wish the team and mentors the best of luck as they represent the club and County in the Connacht final.

Our 50/50 draw gets up and running again this Sunday night. Trevor Hunts team are on selling duty and the draw takes place at 10pm on Sunday night in the Arch Bar, Jamestown. The club congratulates Paddy & Nicola McCormack who got married over the Christmas and we also congratulate Derek & Clare Connellan on the birth of their daughter Ciara. The club wishes all our players, members and supporters a very happy and healthy 2019 and thank you for all your support in 2018.

Scor 
Well done to our instrumental group in Scór Na nÓg who were crowed County champions on Sunday last. The team consisted of Grace Collins, Conall Creighton, Luke Creighton,Cathal McKeon and Aoife McGowan. The team now represent Roscommon in the Connacht finals. Well done to Clare Connellan & Yvonne Foley for all their work with the team and also well done to all participants who represented the club. This is a brilliant achievement by all involved. 

St Stephens day run 
Kilmore GAA ladies will hold an 8k walk/run starting from Kilmore GAA club rooms at 12pm. Everyone is encouraged to support this event and shake off the Christmas Day dinner! 

Peter Joes Card Game 
Peter Joes annual card game will take place on the 27th of December in Bracken’s Hillstreet. Tickets are on sale from the usual sellers. 

Other news 
Kilmore GAA AGM will take place on this Sunday evening at 5pm in the Community Centre Dangan. All club members are encouraged to attend. Anyone who wants to purchase a ticket for the win a house in Dublin draw is asked to contact Brian Carroll 0872420896.

This years AGM of Kilmore GAA club will take place on Sunday the 16th of December at 5pm in the Community Centre.

U-20 team
Our U-20 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels/St Ronans defeated Eire Og on Sunday last in the championship. 

Underage 
Minor Board End of Year Meeting (AGM) is Sat the 24th November at 7:30pm in Community Center. At 6:30pm that evening the annual underage club presentation night takes place. All parents of underage players are encouraged to attend.

Ladies 
Hard luck to our U-16 ladies team who were beaten by St Brigids in the Div1 B Final recently. A massive thank you to the players and management for their time and commitment. Thanks also to An Bothar Rua, Elphin who sponsored the meal afterwards. 

Race night 
Our annual race night took place on Saturday night last in Earleys, Hillstreet. Thanks to everyone who sold and purchased horses and also who sponsored races. U-20 Football 
Our U-20 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels begin their campaign this Sunday at 12pm in a Kilmore against Tulsk. We wish the team the best of luck. 

Ladies football
Our U16 Girls were defeated by a strong Boyle team in the Division 1 semi final on Sunday. The Girls play the Division 1B final on Saturday. Time and venue to be confirmed.

Race night 
Our annual race night takes place on Saturday night the 17th of November in Earleys Hillstreet. Horses and jockeys are on sale from all players and cost €10 each. Race sponsorship is also available and costs €50. Anyone who wishes to sponsors a race is asked to contact Gerry Tiernan, Michael McGuire, Carmelita Caslin or Brian Carroll.

Ladies 
The U16 Girls put in a brilliant second half performance against Padraig Pearses to win their Division 1 quarter final. They now play Boyle in the semi final next weekend. 

Underage 
Our U12’s finished off a great year with a two point win over Elphin Ballinameen in the Div 3 Shield final . Well done to the players and management . 

Other news 
Our 50/50 tickets are on sale and Jenny Connellans team are on selling duty. The draw takes place this Sunday night in the Kilmore Inn. The club extends its sympathy to the O Connor family, Kilcock on the recent death of Bobby O Connor.  The club congratulates Jack Sharkey & Yvonne Creighton who got married at the weekend and we wish them a long and happy life together. The club also wishes Junior Caslin a very happy birthday as he takes another step towards the big 70.

O Gara Cup 
Hard luck to our intermediate team who were defeated on Saturday in the final league game of the year by St Aidans. This brings an end to the year for the team. Thanks to the players for all their efforts during the year and the management team of Gerry Garvey, Sean Boland and John Donohue. 

Underage 
Our team of the week this week is our U-10 team. Well done to our U10 Team who won the Kevin Hanly cup on Saturday in Kilglass. Congratulations to the players and the Management team on an excellent win in dramatic fashion. Hard luck to the St Michael’s team. Our FRS sponsored U12 team will play St Faithleach’s on Friday evening next in the summer league shield final . Our Masonite sponsored minor team suffered a disappointing one point defeat to St Dominics in the Div 2 championship semifinal replay. Thanks to the players  for all their efforts over the year. Thanks to the management team of Noel Feeney , Jim Gaffney and Gerard Holahan for their tireless work over the past 10 months .
