Kilmore GAA Club Notes 7th January 2019

AGM

Our Annual General Meeting took place on Sunday the 16th of December 2018. The following officers were elected Presidents ; Peter Joe Fitzmaurice, Joe Gilfillan and Teresa Kenoy, Chairperson ; Gerry Tiernan, Vice Chairperson ; Brian Carroll, Secretary ; Michael McGuire, Assistant Secretary : Clare Connellan, Treasurer ; Carmelita Caslin, Assistant Treasurer ; Shane McElhone, PRO ; Brian Carroll, Minor Board Chairperson ; TBC, Minor Board Secretary ; Damien Devaney, Registrar ; Gerard Fitzmaurice, Senior manager : Gerry Garvey, Junior manager ; Mervyn Foley, Club Health officer ; Ciara McGuire, Coaching officer ; Donal Carroll, Insurance officer ; TBC, Club children officer ; Jennifer Connellan, County Board delegates ; Tommie Kenoy & Gerry Connellan, Players rep ; Kevin Caslin, Irish & cultural officer ; Michael McGuire, Ladies Rep : Jamie Sharkey and Rounders rep ; TBC. 


Peter Joes card game 

Thanks to everyone who purchased and sold tickets for the recent card game. Thanks to Peter Joe Fitzmaurice and JJ McWeeney for organising the event which is a great fundraiser. The over winner was Danny O Rourke and the finalist were Cathal Lavin, Conor Carroll & Ita King. 


Club draw

Our final club draw of 2018 took place on St Stephens day. The winners were as follows €1,000 - Damien Devaney, €400 - John McPartland, €200 - Colin hanly, €100 - Seamus Shiel, yearly ticket for entry into 50/50 draw John & Rose Llyod. 


Ladies walk 

Our ladies committee held a walk on St Stephens day. A great corwd turned out on the day and we thank everyone for their support. 


Scor 

We wish the very best of luck to our instrumental group in Scór Na nÓg Connaxcht final which takes place this Sunday in Claremorris.  The team consists of Grace Collins, Conall Creighton, Luke Creighton,Cathal McKeon and Aoife McGowan. We wish the team and mentors the best of luck as they represent the club and County in the Connacht final. 


Other news

Our 50/50 draw gets up and running again this Sunday night. Trevor Hunts team are on selling duty and the draw takes place at 10pm on Sunday night in the Arch Bar, Jamestown. The club congratulates Paddy & Nicola McCormack who got married over the Christmas and we also congratulate Derek & Clare Connellan on the birth of their daughter Ciara. The club wishes all our players, members and supporters a very happy and healthy 2019 and thank you for all your support in 2018.

Scor 
Well done to our instrumental group in Scór Na nÓg who were crowed County champions on Sunday last. The team consisted of Grace Collins, Conall Creighton, Luke Creighton,Cathal McKeon and Aoife McGowan. The team now represent Roscommon in the Connacht finals. Well done to Clare Connellan & Yvonne Foley for all their work with the team and also well done to all participants who represented the club. This is a brilliant achievement by all involved. 

St Stephens day run 
Kilmore GAA ladies will hold an 8k walk/run starting from Kilmore GAA club rooms at 12pm. Everyone is encouraged to support this event and shake off the Christmas Day dinner! 

Peter Joes Card Game 
Peter Joes annual card game will take place on the 27th of December in Bracken’s Hillstreet. Tickets are on sale from the usual sellers. 

Other news 
Kilmore GAA AGM will take place on this Sunday evening at 5pm in the Community Centre Dangan. All club members are encouraged to attend. Anyone who wants to purchase a ticket for the win a house in Dublin draw is asked to contact Brian Carroll 0872420896.

Club AGM
This years AGM of Kilmore GAA club will take place on Sunday the 16th of December at 5pm in the Community Centre.

Scor 
The club wishes all our participants who represent the club in the County final of Scor Na Nog this Sunday in Athlone.

U-20 team
Our U-20 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels/St Ronans defeated Eire Og on Sunday last in the championship. 

Underage 
Minor Board End of Year Meeting (AGM) is Sat the 24th November at 7:30pm in Community Center. At 6:30pm that evening the annual underage club presentation night takes place. All parents of underage players are encouraged to attend.

Ladies 
Hard luck to our U-16 ladies team who were beaten by St Brigids in the Div1 B Final recently. A massive thank you to the players and management for their time and commitment. Thanks also to An Bothar Rua, Elphin who sponsored the meal afterwards. 

Race night 
Our annual race night took place on Saturday night last in Earleys, Hillstreet. Thanks to everyone who sold and purchased horses and also who sponsored races. Thanks to the following who were our race sponsors Elphin Mart, DG Oil Joe & Jason McEvoy, Kalzen Tool hire, FRS Richards O Dowd, The Silver Eel, Gerry Garvey, Morris Meats Elphin, Junior & Carmelita Caslin, Dessie Glancy, Elphin, Danny O Rourke, Tommie & Teresa Kenoy, John King. The annual Hospice auction takes place in the Kilmore Inn on Saturday night the 1st of December 2018. The Annual General Meeting of Kilmore GAA Club takes place on Saturday the 15th of December. Peter Joes annual card game takes place on Thursday the 27th of December 2018 in Brackens, Hillstreet.

U-20 Football 
Our U-20 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels begin their campaign this Sunday at 12pm in a Kilmore against Tulsk. We wish the team the best of luck. 

Ladies football
Our U16 Girls were defeated by a strong Boyle team in the Division 1 semi final on Sunday. The Girls play the Division 1B final on Saturday. Time and venue to be confirmed.

Race night 
Our annual race night takes place on Saturday night the 17th of November in Earleys Hillstreet. Horses and jockeys are on sale from all players and cost €10 each. Race sponsorship is also available and costs €50. Anyone who wishes to sponsors a race is asked to contact Gerry Tiernan, Michael McGuire, Carmelita Caslin or Brian Carroll.

Ladies 
The U16 Girls put in a brilliant second half performance against Padraig Pearses to win their Division 1 quarter final. They now play Boyle in the semi final next weekend. 

Underage 
Our U12’s finished off a great year with a two point win over Elphin Ballinameen in the Div 3 Shield final . Well done to the players and management . 

Other news 
Our 50/50 tickets are on sale and Jenny Connellans team are on selling duty. The draw takes place this Sunday night in the Kilmore Inn. The club extends its sympathy to the O Connor family, Kilcock on the recent death of Bobby O Connor.  The club congratulates Jack Sharkey & Yvonne Creighton who got married at the weekend and we wish them a long and happy life together. The club also wishes Junior Caslin a very happy birthday as he takes another step towards the big 70.

O Gara Cup 
Hard luck to our intermediate team who were defeated on Saturday in the final league game of the year by St Aidans. This brings an end to the year for the team. Thanks to the players for all their efforts during the year and the management team of Gerry Garvey, Sean Boland and John Donohue. 

Underage 
Our team of the week this week is our U-10 team. Well done to our U10 Team who won the Kevin Hanly cup on Saturday in Kilglass. Congratulations to the players and the Management team on an excellent win in dramatic fashion. Hard luck to the St Michael’s team. Our FRS sponsored U12 team will play St Faithleach’s on Friday evening next in the summer league shield final . Our Masonite sponsored minor team suffered a disappointing one point defeat to St Dominics in the Div 2 championship semifinal replay. Thanks to the players  for all their efforts over the year. Thanks to the management team of Noel Feeney , Jim Gaffney and Gerard Holahan for their tireless work over the past 10 months .

This Saturday night our race night takes place in Earleys Hillstreet. Horse and jockeys are on sale from all our players.

Underage
Well done to our FRS sponsored U12 team and coaches who won the inaugural Joe Flynn shield hosted by the St Marys Club in Carrick on Saturday . Thanks to the team sponsors for providing a meal for the team afterwards. Well done to our U12 Skills competition team of Cameron Craughwell, Paul O Flynn , Caelan Bracken and Darragh Devaney who represented County Roscommon in the Connacht Finals on  Friday evening in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. Thanks to John Craughwel who coached them for the competition. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team will play St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi final replay in Stroketown on Sunday next at 12 noon. Our Glancy’s  Supervalu sponsored u16 team were beaten by Boyle in the Div 1 shield final . Thanks to Padraic Glancy of Supervalu who provided a meal for the team afterwards. Thanks to the U16 players , coaches and parents for all their efforts during the year. We competed well in the Division 1 league and championship. Our U10’s  will take part in the Kilglass tournament on Saturday next in their last outing of the year. 

Junior semi final replay 
On Sunday last the club hosted the junior semi final replay on Sunday last at the pitch. The club wishes to thank everyone who helped out in anyway In hosting this game.

Well done to Jack Sharkey who won our 50/50 jackpot of €431. Our €25 winners were Michael Finneran, London (yearly winner), Michael Tymon, Mickey Monaghan and Lisa Garvey. Thanks to Pamela Burke and her team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Jamie Sharkeys team. The club extends its sympathy to Siobhan Connellan and her family on the recent death of her mother Pauline O Rourke. We also congratulate Shane & Chelcy Sharkey on the birth of their baby son Scott at the weekend.

ntermediate championship 
Our intermediate team lost out by just 1 point in the County semi final on Saturday last to Fuerty. The team battled to the very end but just lost out by the smallest of margins. Hard luck to the players and management. We have one league game against St Aidans left to play. 

Underage 
Well done to our U10’s who performed very well in the Shane Kelly Cup in strokestown last Saturday. Well done to our U12 Skills competition team of Cameron Craughwell, Paul O Flynn , Caelan Bracken and Darragh Devaney who finished second in the County Roscommon competition this week . They will go on to represent Roscommon in the Connacht Finals next Friday evening in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. This is the third year in a row we have gone on to represent the County in the skills competition. Well done to all the coached that have contributed to this sucess. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team drew with St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi-final in  Knockcrockery. The date of the replay is to be confirmed. Our Glancy’s Supervalu sponsored U16 team are fixed to play Boyle in the Div1 sheild final on Sunday next at 4pm . Venue to be confirmed.

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night in the Arch Bar Jamestown and Pamela McGaurans team are on selling duty. Kilmore will host the Junior championship replay between Kilglass Gaels and St Michaels on this Sunday at 2pm. The club will require a large number of stewards for the day. We would ask everyone who can help out to assemble at the pitch at 12.30pm on sunday. The club extends its sympathy to Siobhan Connellan on the death of her mother on Sunday last.

Intermediate championship 
Well done to our King and Moffat sponsored intermediate team who defeated Éire Og on Sunday last in Kilglass in the intermediate championship quarter final after extra time. Well done to the players and management. All roads now lead to Dr Hyde Park this Saturday as we face Fuerty at 3pm in the Chanpionship Semi Final. We would ask everyone to please come out on Saturday and support the team. 

Junior championship 
Our junior team are in championship action this Friday evening as we face Boyle at 8.30pm in the junior B championship Quarter final. 

Ladies 
The Minor Ladies put in a superb team performance to beat St. Barry's in the Minor Championship on Friday evening. A massive thank you to the 19 players on the panel who have won our first Minor Ladies Championship.  To the parents and management thanks for all the work they put into the year.  Unfortunately  our Junior Ladies were defeated by a goal in their quarter final against Eire Og. Despite this set back the Ladies topped Junior B and have gained promotion to Junior A for next year. Thanks to the players and management for their work and effort in securing promotion for 2019.

Underage 
Our under 10’s  play in the Shane Kelly cup in strokestown next Saturday. FRS sponsored U12 Team were defeated by St Michaels in the last game of the summer league. The team , coaches and parents had a wonderful day out in Croke park where we played threeBlitz games. Thanks to Brian Carroll, Donal Carroll, John & Nicola Craughwell and Trevor Hunt for organising everything. Our Taylor Cleaning sponsored U14 Team were defeated by strokestown in the semi-final of the Garda cup . Thanks to the players the coaches and the parents for all their efforts  at this age group in 2018. We won the division two league and we were very competitive in the Division I championship. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team play  St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi-final next Sunday at 2:30 PM in Knockcrockery. 

Health Challenge 
Our 6 week health challenge gets underway this Tuesday evening the 25th of September at 7pm in the Community Centre Dangan with the first weigh in and talk. Walks etc will also be organised. It’s super value costing just €40 in total for the 7 weigh ins or €7 per evening.
