Kilmore GAA Club Notes 5th November 2018

U-20 Football 
Our U-20 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels begin their campaign this Sunday at 12pm in a Kilmore against Tulsk. We wish the team the best of luck. 

Ladies football
Our U16 Girls were defeated by a strong Boyle team in the Division 1 semi final on Sunday. The Girls play the Division 1B final on Saturday. Time and venue to be confirmed.

Race night 
Our annual race night takes place on Saturday night the 17th of November in Earleys Hillstreet. Horses and jockeys are on sale from all players and cost €10 each. Race sponsorship is also available and costs €50. Anyone who wishes to sponsors a race is asked to contact Gerry Tiernan, Michael McGuire, Carmelita Caslin or Brian Carroll.

Ladies 
The U16 Girls put in a brilliant second half performance against Padraig Pearses to win their Division 1 quarter final. They now play Boyle in the semi final next weekend. 

Underage 
Our U12’s finished off a great year with a two point win over Elphin Ballinameen in the Div 3 Shield final . Well done to the players and management . 

Other news 
Our 50/50 tickets are on sale and Jenny Connellans team are on selling duty. The draw takes place this Sunday night in the Kilmore Inn. The club extends its sympathy to the O Connor family, Kilcock on the recent death of Bobby O Connor.  The club congratulates Jack Sharkey & Yvonne Creighton who got married at the weekend and we wish them a long and happy life together. The club also wishes Junior Caslin a very happy birthday as he takes another step towards the big 70.

O Gara Cup 
Hard luck to our intermediate team who were defeated on Saturday in the final league game of the year by St Aidans. This brings an end to the year for the team. Thanks to the players for all their efforts during the year and the management team of Gerry Garvey, Sean Boland and John Donohue. 

Underage 
Our team of the week this week is our U-10 team. Well done to our U10 Team who won the Kevin Hanly cup on Saturday in Kilglass. Congratulations to the players and the Management team on an excellent win in dramatic fashion. Hard luck to the St Michael’s team. Our FRS sponsored U12 team will play St Faithleach’s on Friday evening next in the summer league shield final . Our Masonite sponsored minor team suffered a disappointing one point defeat to St Dominics in the Div 2 championship semifinal replay. Thanks to the players  for all their efforts over the year. Thanks to the management team of Noel Feeney , Jim Gaffney and Gerard Holahan for their tireless work over the past 10 months .

This Saturday night our race night takes place in Earleys Hillstreet. Horse and jockeys are on sale from all our players.

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night in Bracken’s and Jamie Sharkeys team are on selling duty. The club extends its sympathy to the King family Hillstreet on the recent death of Kathleen King.

Underage
Well done to our FRS sponsored U12 team and coaches who won the inaugural Joe Flynn shield hosted by the St Marys Club in Carrick on Saturday . Thanks to the team sponsors for providing a meal for the team afterwards. Well done to our U12 Skills competition team of Cameron Craughwell, Paul O Flynn , Caelan Bracken and Darragh Devaney who represented County Roscommon in the Connacht Finals on  Friday evening in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. Thanks to John Craughwel who coached them for the competition. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team will play St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi final replay in Stroketown on Sunday next at 12 noon. Our Glancy’s  Supervalu sponsored u16 team were beaten by Boyle in the Div 1 shield final . Thanks to Padraic Glancy of Supervalu who provided a meal for the team afterwards. Thanks to the U16 players , coaches and parents for all their efforts during the year. We competed well in the Division 1 league and championship. Our U10’s  will take part in the Kilglass tournament on Saturday next in their last outing of the year. 

Junior semi final replay 
On Sunday last the club hosted the junior semi final replay on Sunday last at the pitch. The club wishes to thank everyone who helped out in anyway In hosting this game. 

Other news 
Well done to Jack Sharkey who won our 50/50 jackpot of €431. Our €25 winners were Michael Finneran, London (yearly winner), Michael Tymon, Mickey Monaghan and Lisa Garvey. Thanks to Pamela Burke and her team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Jamie Sharkeys team. The club extends its sympathy to Siobhan Connellan and her family on the recent death of her mother Pauline O Rourke. We also congratulate Shane & Chelcy Sharkey on the birth of their baby son Scott at the weekend.

ntermediate championship 
Our intermediate team lost out by just 1 point in the County semi final on Saturday last to Fuerty. The team battled to the very end but just lost out by the smallest of margins. Hard luck to the players and management. We have one league game against St Aidans left to play. 

Underage 
Well done to our U10’s who performed very well in the Shane Kelly Cup in strokestown last Saturday. Well done to our U12 Skills competition team of Cameron Craughwell, Paul O Flynn , Caelan Bracken and Darragh Devaney who finished second in the County Roscommon competition this week . They will go on to represent Roscommon in the Connacht Finals next Friday evening in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. This is the third year in a row we have gone on to represent the County in the skills competition. Well done to all the coached that have contributed to this sucess. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team drew with St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi-final in  Knockcrockery. The date of the replay is to be confirmed. Our Glancy’s Supervalu sponsored U16 team are fixed to play Boyle in the Div1 sheild final on Sunday next at 4pm . Venue to be confirmed.

Our 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night in the Arch Bar Jamestown and Pamela McGaurans team are on selling duty. Kilmore will host the Junior championship replay between Kilglass Gaels and St Michaels on this Sunday at 2pm. The club will require a large number of stewards for the day. We would ask everyone who can help out to assemble at the pitch at 12.30pm on sunday. The club extends its sympathy to Siobhan Connellan on the death of her mother on Sunday last.

Intermediate championship 
Well done to our King and Moffat sponsored intermediate team who defeated Éire Og on Sunday last in Kilglass in the intermediate championship quarter final after extra time. Well done to the players and management. All roads now lead to Dr Hyde Park this Saturday as we face Fuerty at 3pm in the Chanpionship Semi Final. We would ask everyone to please come out on Saturday and support the team. 

Junior championship 
Our junior team are in championship action this Friday evening as we face Boyle at 8.30pm in the junior B championship Quarter final. 

Ladies 
The Minor Ladies put in a superb team performance to beat St. Barry's in the Minor Championship on Friday evening. A massive thank you to the 19 players on the panel who have won our first Minor Ladies Championship.  To the parents and management thanks for all the work they put into the year.  Unfortunately  our Junior Ladies were defeated by a goal in their quarter final against Eire Og. Despite this set back the Ladies topped Junior B and have gained promotion to Junior A for next year. Thanks to the players and management for their work and effort in securing promotion for 2019.

Underage 
Our under 10’s  play in the Shane Kelly cup in strokestown next Saturday. FRS sponsored U12 Team were defeated by St Michaels in the last game of the summer league. The team , coaches and parents had a wonderful day out in Croke park where we played threeBlitz games. Thanks to Brian Carroll, Donal Carroll, John & Nicola Craughwell and Trevor Hunt for organising everything. Our Taylor Cleaning sponsored U14 Team were defeated by strokestown in the semi-final of the Garda cup . Thanks to the players the coaches and the parents for all their efforts  at this age group in 2018. We won the division two league and we were very competitive in the Division I championship. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team play  St Dominic‘s in the Division II championship semi-final next Sunday at 2:30 PM in Knockcrockery. 

Health Challenge 
Our 6 week health challenge gets underway this Tuesday evening the 25th of September at 7pm in the Community Centre Dangan with the first weigh in and talk. Walks etc will also be organised. It’s super value costing just €40 in total for the 7 weigh ins or €7 per evening.

Well done to Christy Gannon who won our 50/50 jackpot of €471. Our €25 winners were Michael Finneran (london), Jp O Dowd, Michael & Martina Mchugh and Aine Caslin. Thanks to Mervyn foley and his team of sellers. Next on selling duty is Pamela Mcgaurans team.

Intermediate championship 
Our King & Moffat sponsored Intermediate team suffered a disappointing defeat to St Dominics on Saturday evening last in Strokestown. We have now qualified for the County quarter final where we will face Eire Og this Sunday at 2pm in Kilglass. Please come out and support the team. The club wishes Liam Caslin a speedy recovery from the injury he received on Saturday last. 

Underage 
On Monday evening last our FRS sponsored U-12 team had a good win over St Faithleachs in Kilmore. On Wednesday next we play St Michaels in Kilmore at 6.30pm. On this Sunday our U-12 team travel to Croke Park to take part in a blitz. Our Taylor cleaning sponsored u-14 team will play Strokestown in the semi final of the Garda cup with the date and time to be confirmed. Our Masonite sponsored minor team defeated Elphin/Ballinameen in the final game of the championship and have now qualified for the semi final where they will take on St Dominics with the date and time to be confirmed. 

Ladies 
Our minor girls team face St Barrys in the final at 8pm in Tarmonbarry on Friday evening. The junior ladies team play Eire Og in the quarter final on this Sunday at 11am with the venue to be confirmed. 

Health Challenge 
Kilmore GAA Health & Wellbeing Committee are holding a 6 week health challenge for all members of the parish. This will consist of a weekly weigh in and a talk from Gwen Fitzgibbon. A number of walks will be organised during the 6 weeks including walks on Sliabh Ban, Forest park and many more exciting venues. The 1st weigh in and talk will take place on next Tuesday the 25th of September at 7pm in the Community Centre, Dangan. The cost is €7 per weekly weigh in or just €40 for the 7 weigh ins. During the 6 weeks we will also be holding a special evening where we will have speakers in relation to numerous topics and challenges we all face in life. Spread the word and put next Tuesday evening in your diaries. 

Night at the races
Our annual race night will take place on Saturday night the 6th of October in Hillstreet. Horses are currently on sale priced at just €10 for the horse and €10 for the jockey. We are also looking for race sponsors. Race sponsorship costs just €50 and we would ask anyone who is interested in sponsoring a race to contact Brian Carroll 0872420896 or Carmelita caslin 0868596474. 

Other news
Well done to the Roscommon masters team who drew the All Ireland final at the weekend. The annual Hospice Coffee evening will take place on this Thursday evening the 20th of September between 7.30pm and 10pm in the Community Centre, Dangan.  This weeks 50/50 draw takes place this Sunday night in the Silver eel and Mervyn Foleys team are on selling duty.

Championship 
Well done to our intermediate championship team who defeated Oran on Saturday evening last in round 4 of the championship. We now face St Dominic’s this Saturday evening at 4pm in Strokestown in the final group game. We wish the team and management the best of luck and encourage everyone to come out and support the team. 

Underage 
FRS sponsored U12 Team were beaten by Castlerea and St Ciarans during the week. On Monday eve we play St Faithleach’s in Kilmore at 7pm. Taylor Cleaning sponsored U14 Team were beaten by Clan Na Gael in the Div1 shield KO. That finishes our championship games for 2018. We play Elphin Ballinameen in the Garda cup on Monday eve in Elphin at 6:45pm. Glancy’s Supervalu sponsored U16 Team had a good win over Elphin Ballinameen in the final game of the championship. Our Masonite Sponsored minor team on Sunday next play Elphin Ballinameen in Elphin in a crucial final game of the championship. Time to be confirmed. 

Other news 
Well done to John Faughnan who won our 50/50 jackpot of €763. Our €25 winners were Peter Joe Fitzmaurice, Stephanie Cregg, Paul Lenihan and Geard Thornton. Thanks to Clare Connellan and her team on an excellent jackpot. This is our 2nd highest jackpot ever. Next on selling duty is Mervyn Foleys team. The club wishes the Roscommon masters team the best of luck as they face Mayo in the All Ireland shield final this Saturday at 1pm in Drumlish. Kilmore is well resprested as the team is managed by Anthony Carroll and Jim Gilchrest and Donal Carroll are members of the panel.

We have one game left in the league and that game is at home to St Aidans on a date to be confirmed.  All roads lead to Elphin this Saturday evening as we face Oran in round 4 of the intermediate championship at 4.45pm. On Saturday our Taylor Cleaning sponsored u14 team were beaten by Roscommon Gales by three points. On Monday our FRS sponsored U12 team play Castlerea in Kilmore at 7pm. On Wednesday our U14 reserve league team play St Bridgets in Kiltoom at 7pm. On Thursday our Taylor Cleaning sponsored U14 team play Clan na Gael in Kilmore at 7pm. On Thursday our FRS sponsored U12 team play St Ciarans in Mulheirn Park at 7pm. 

Ladies
It was a busy week for our U14s who played St. Michaels and Ballinameen and based on those results they played St. Faithleachs in the semi-final on Sunday evening. Having led for the entire match, it was heart breaking to concede a goal in the last minute and lose by a point. Commiserations to the girls. Thank you to the players and management for all the work they put in to the year. Thanks to the parents for getting the girls to matches and training. The Minor Girls won their semi-final. The Junior Ladies were defeated by Four Roads but beat St. Croans in their Championship games this week.

Our junior team face Kilglass Gaels this Friday evening in Kilmore at 7pm.

Our minor team had a good win over Tulsk in the championship last week. Our U-14 reserve league team were defeated by St Dominics. Our Taylor cleaning sponsored U-14 team had a convincing win over St Brigids in Division 1. Our Glancys Super Valu sponsored U-16 team were defeated by St Bridgets. Our U-12 team play Elphin/Ballinameen in the summer league in Elphin on Monday evening at 7pm. On Tuesday our U-16 team play Boyle in Kilmore at 7.15pm in their final championship game. On Wednesday our U-14 reserve league team play Padraig Pearses in Ballyfarnon. On Friday our minors play St Ciarans in Kilmore at 7pm. On Saturday our U-14 team play Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult at 2pm.

 

Ladies

Our ladies have a busy a busy week ahead starting with our U-14 team playing St Michaels on Monday evening at 7pm. The junior ladies play Four Roads at 7pm on Tuesday in Four roads. The U-14 team are out again on Wednesday when the play Ballinameen in Ballinameen at 7pm. The minor ladies play St Croans in the semi final of the championship at 7pm in Kilmore on Thursday evening.

 

Other News

Well done to Bernie Sheridan who won our 50/50 jackpot of €597. Our €25 winners were Emma Sheridan who won twice, Colin Hanly and Sarah Lambert. Thanks to Trevor Hunt and his team of sellers.
