Kilmore GAA Club Notes 16th September 2013

Underage
Commiserations this week goes to our U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels who were defeated by a stronger Tulsk team on Saturday evening last in Elphin. The lads gave it their all and we thank the players and management for their efforts. We congratulate Tulsk on the win. Our U-12 game against Elphin was postponed as mark of respect to the late JJ Murphy and has been re-fixed for Tuesday evening the 17th September at 6.30pm in Elphin. Our minor team had no game on Sunday last as St Ciarans conceded the game. Our U-16 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels play St Brigids this Saturday in the championship, time and venue to be confirmed. Our U-12 team are due to play St Aidans this Saturday at 12pm in Kilmore. Our U-8's are also in blitz action this Saturday morning at 11am.
 
Under 21
Our U-21 team are due to play Kilglass Gaels in the 1st round of the championship this Saturday. Please check our website for exact venue and time and we will also circulate news of match via text message.
 
Eat Less, Move More.
We are now going into our 3rd week and we are getting brilliant turn outs at our group exercises. Well done to everyone and keep up the good work. Weigh in takes place this Tuesday at 8.30pm in the club rooms and dancing takes place at 8pm on Thursday.
 
Challenge 24/32
In association with our health challenge 4 members of our club will attempt to drive the 32 counties of Ireland in 24 hours. in each county they will meet a GAA star and/or a politician who will present them with a flag from each county. Its also hoped to get a signed item from each GAA star that can be auctioned for the Irish Cancer Society. Its hoped they will return before 11pm on Saturday night the 26th of October to coincide with the final night social of the Eat less, move more challenge at a venue in the parish yet to be decided.   
 
Other News
The club extends our sympathy to the Murphy family, Skeagh on the recent death of JJ Murphy and we thank everyone who took part in the Guard of honour. We also extend our sympathy to Kathleen O Dowd, Kilcroy on the death of her brother and to Mrs King, Hillstreet on the death of her brother. A meeting of our finance committee will take place this Tuesday evening at 9.15pm in the clubrooms. Members of our 1983 senior team had a great reunion on Saturday night last in Kilmore. Thanks to everyone who was there and thanks to Joe McCabe for sponsorship of food.
