Kilmore GAA Club Notes 21st July

Presidents Night
Kilmore GAA are holding a special Presidents night this Friday night the 26th of July. The night is to honour the work, commitment and dedication that our 3 club presidents Willie Casserley, Frank Dennehy and Peter Joe Fitzmaurice have given to our GAA club down throughout the years. The night will begin with a mass for the living and deceased members of Kilmore GAA Club and will take place in the Half Parish church at 8pm. Then a social will take place with music and refreshments in The Silver Eel getting underway at 9.30pm. Admission on the door will be optional. We would encourage everyone to support the social on the night to honour the work of these 3 great men for our club
 
Senior/Junior Team
Our Murtaghs bar Senior team was defeated on Tuesday evening in the O Rourke cup by our neighbours Elphin. Our next game is Wednesday the 31st of July in Kilmore against Clann Na Gael in the league. Our final championship group game will take place on Sunday the 11th of August against Padraig Pearses in Kilmore. Our junior team begin their Northern championship campaign on this Sunday the 28th of July when they travel to Tulsk to play Tulsk at 1pm.
 
Underage
Our U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels had a good win over St Faithleachs on Thursday evening last in Kilmore in the division 2 league. The team have now qualified for the league and championship semi finals and these fixtures will be confirmed soon. Our U-16 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels were defeated by St Ciarans on Saturday evening last in Kilmore.
 
Last Man Standing
Kilmore GAA are again running our last man standing competition with the 1st round of games to get under way on Saturday August the 17th. Tickets again cost €10 with a brilliant 1st prize of €500. Tickets will be on sale this week from all players in the club.
 
Summer Camp
Our summer camp takes place from Monday the 12th of August to Friday the 16th of Auguist at the GAA pitch for anyone aged from 5 years to 12years. Anyone who wants to book a place is asked to contact Clare Caslin on 087-9471081. Places must be booked in advance to finalise exact number of staff required for the week.
 
Other News
Hard luck to John Gannon and the Roscommon minor team on their defeat to Mayo in the Connacht final on Sunday last. Well done to John Donohue who represented Roscommon U-16 team in the Fr Manning Cup game against Offaly last week. 4 members of our club are embarking on an national fundraising venture on the October bank holiday weekend for the Irish Cancer Society, we will have more details next week. Our annual golf classic takes place on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of July in Carrick On Shannon golf course. We will have more details in the coming weeks. Anyone who wishes to be added to our text list to be updated on all events and news is asked to text their name and number to 087-6578640.Well done to Jamie Sharkey who was the winner of our golf society captains day out last week. 2nd was Alan Ffrench and 3rd was Andy Connellan.
