Kilmore GAA Club Notes 21st March 2016

Senior League
Hard luck to our King and Moffat sponsored senior team who just fell short against Roscommon Gaels on Sunday last in Lisnamult. The team made a good start and we were level at half time 0-4 each. We took an early lead in the second half but it was to be the last time we were in front as Roscommon Gaels hit 3 points in a row and despite a good second half performance we could not close the gap. Team and Scorers Ollie Burke, Mark Connellan, Jack Sharkey, Shane Sharkey, Gary Connellan, Colm Garvey, Kevin Caslin, Joe Garvey, Paul McElhone, Ray Caslin, John Donohoe (0-1), Cathal Carney (0-3), Ben Donohoe, Dara Feely (0-1), Damien Tiernan (0-2), Subs used Derek Connellan (0-4), Charlie Burke, Liam Caslin. Next up is Western Gaels away on the 17th of April in the league.

Junior League
Our junior team begin their 2016 Campaign on this Friday evening at 5pm in Kilmore when we take on Fuerty in the league.

Underage Teams
Our U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels got their campaign off to a good start against St Aidans on Saturday morning last. Well done to all involved. Our minors of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels play St Ciarans this Wednesday evening at 8pm under lights in Athleague. Our U-16 team are also due to play Padraig Pearses this weekend.

Table Quiz
The annual Kilmore/Shannon Gaels table quiz will take place this Holy Thursday night getting underway at 8pm in Glancys bar, Cortober. Adult teams of 4 cost €40 and U-16 teams of 4 cost €20. Brilliant prizes on the night and a raffle will also take place on the night. Everyone is encouraged to attend this important fundraiser.

Club Draw & Club Rossie Draw
Our annual €100 Kilmore GAA club draw tickets are now on sale from all the usual sellers. You have the option of 3 entries into each draw for €100 or 1 entry for €50. Top prize in each of the 3 draws is €1,000. First draw takes place in April. Club Rossie tickets are also now on sale. There is 2 options this year, €228 which gives you 3 chances to win a top prize of €20,000 and with this ticket you also get free entry into the home National Football League games against Mayo & Dublin in Dr Hyde Park. There is also a €100 ticket which gives you entry into the draw to win the top prize of €20,000. Anyone who wishes to purchase tickets is asked to contact Jenny on 086-0779493 or Brian 087-2420896.

U-20 Medal presentation
Our 2015 Kilmore/Shannon Gaels County U-20 Championship panel will receive their medals at a special presentation function in the Silver Eel pub on Friday the 1st of April 2016 getting underway at 9pm. This was an excellent win for both clubs and well done to Brendan Burke and his management team and all the players.

Roscommon V Mayo
Kilmore GAA need to provide a minimum of 4 stewards for this Sundays game in Hyde Park between Roscommon and Mayo. Stewards will need to be in the Hyde Centre for 1.30pm where they will receive refreshments and gates will open at 2pm. Anyone who is available and interested contact Brian Carroll 087-2420896.

Other News
This weeks 50/50 Draw takes place on Sunday night at 10pm in Brackens Hillstreet. Gerry Tiernans team are on selling duty. We have added a number of people to the teams and the new look teams can viewed on www.kilmoregaa.ie We have also introduced a sellers prize. The 26 sellers of the jackpot winning ticket will be entered into a draw at the end of the year for a great cash prize of €200 so they more envelopes you sell the better chance of having a winner. The club congratulates the Roscommon U-21 and minor teams on their wins at the weekend. The club wishes all our supporters a very happy Easter. The club wishes Tish Caslin a very happy 40th Birthday this weekend and we also wish our senior player Damien Tiernan a very happy birthday as he takes one step closer to the 40 mark also this weekend.
