Kilmore GAA Club Notes 28th April 2014

Senior Team

Our Murtaghs Bar sponsored senior team were defeated in the John Hunt memorial cup last Sunday by Kilbride. Kilmore GAA thank Kilbride GAA for the excellent hospitality shown to our players and supporters after the game. Our senior senior game is against St Faithleachs next Monday at 2pm in Ballyleague in the O Rourke Cup. We would ask all our supporters to come out and support the team.


Junior Team

Our junior team were defeated on Friday evening last by Michael glaveys in Ballinlough. Our junior team are in league action again this Friday evening at 8pm in Kilmore against Kilglass Gaels.  



Our U-14 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels defeated Tulsk on Thursday evening last by 8 points. Our U-16 team of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels were defeated by St Faithleachs on Sunday last and will now face Strokestown in the league semi final. Our ABC training for all children up to the age of 8 years takes place every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm at the pitch.


125 Celebrations

Kilmore GAA this weekend celebrates our 125th anniversary. The weekend gets underway on Friday night with a welcome home reception in Brackens Hillstreet with music, refreshments and our club draw taking place. A social will then take place on Saturday night in the Kilmore at 9pm with food, presentations and music on the night. Then on Sunday Kilmore GAA pitch is the place to be with a game involving young and old getting underway at 4.30pm. A photographic display will be unveiled by Frank Dennehy at 5.30pm and juvenile games at 6pm. At 7.30pm Liam O Neill, President of the GAA will arrive at the clubrooms where at 8.30pm he will launch the history book of Kilmore GAA.  At 9pm music will get underway at the clubrooms. On Monday evening at 7pm a social will take place in Earlys Hillstreet for all club members who helped out over the weekend. The history book "Gaelic Games in Kilmore 1889-2014 will be on sale at all events over the weekend. A weekend ticket that will give you entry to all events over the weekend is on sale priced at just €10. This ticket will cover all social events and games at the pitch. Tickets are on sale from all members of the executive. This weekend is a celebration of 125 years of GAA in our club and we would encourage everyone in the parish to attend as many events as possible and make it a weekend to remember.  This Wednesday at 7pm we are looking for volunteers to turn up at the pitch for a few hours to help prepare the place for the weekend.


Club Rossie

Club Rossie membership is still available. The draw for all members is due to take place this weekend with a 1st prize of €25,000, 2nd prize €5,000 and another €10,000 in prizes. Membership packages cost Bronze €108, Silver €168 and Gold is €228. We would ask everyone to try and purchase one of the packages and support Roscommon teams to continue the current success on the field. For more details and to see all the brilliant benefits for joining Club Rossie visit  Membership can also be purchased by contacting any member of Kilmore GAA executive. We thank everyone in our club who have already supported club rossie and joined up. Everyone in our club who has joined Club Rossie before this Thursday night will be entered in to a draw for 2 tickets for the All Ireland U-21 final. The draw will take place on Friday night at 9pm in Brackens Hillstreet.


Kilglass Gaels Pitch Opening

On Easter Sunday our senior team were invited to take part in a game to mark the opening of Kilglass gaels new pitch. We thank Kilglass Gaels for the invite and thank them for the hospitalilty shown to our players and management after the game. We wish Kilglass gaels the best of luck in the future with their new development.


Other News

We congratulate Shane Crowe and Katie Hunt who were the recent winners of the Easter Hampers in the minor board draw. We thank everyone who purchased tickets and also thanks to Earleys and P Flynn for selling the tickets. Kilmore GAA congratulates the Roscommon senior football team on their win over Cavan on Saturday evening last in Croke Park. We wish the Roscommon U-21 team the very best of luck this Saturday in the All Ireland final in Tullamore against Dublin. We would ask houses in the parish to get the Roscommon colours out this week to show your support for the team. Tickets for the match will be on sale this week in Glancys Super Valu, Carrick On Shannon. We wish our minor board Chairman P Doyle a very happy birthday this week!
