Kilmore GAA Club Notes 28th July 2013

Senior Team
Our Murtaghs bar sponsored Senior team play our final O Rourke cup game this Wednesday evening as we face Clann Na Gael in Kilmore at 8pm. We have already secured our senior league status for 2014. Our do or die championship game against Padraig Pearses will take place at 3.30pm on Sunday the 11th of August in Kilmore.
 
Junior Team
Our junior team suffered a 5 point defeat on Sunday last to Tulsk in the 1st round of the championship. Having trailed by 14 points at one stage the team fought back very well. The junior team have a quick chance to turn things around as the play round 2 of the junior championship this Saturday evening against Kilglass Gaels in Kilmore at 7pm.
 
Last Man Standing
All our senior & Junior players have now received their last man standing tickets. Tickets cost just €10 each and this year again we have a brilliant prize of €500. Tickets are on sale from all senior and junior players and we would ask all players to have all tickets sold before Saturday the 10th of August.
 
Presidents Night
A great crowd turned out last Friday night as the club honoured 3 of our greatest servants in Willie Casserley, Peter Joe Fitzmaurice and Frank Dennehy in the Silver Eel. We thank all members of our own club and also members of our neighbouring clubs who turned up on the night. We also thank Michael Fahy and Brian Stenson for attending on behalf of Roscommon County Board. We thank the Silver Eel for sponsoring the food for the event on the night. We also thank everyone who attended our club GAA mass that took place on Friday evening and thanks to Fr Tomas for celebrating the mass.
 
Roscommon race day
Next Tuesday the 6th of August the annual Roscommon GAA race day takes place at Roscommon racecourse. We have 40 tickets priced at €25 each to sell for the event. The 2012 race day was a brilliant day out and no doubt this year will be every bit as good. Included in the price of the ticket is admission to the race track, your race card, a €10 bet, access to the Roscommon GAA marquee where there will be food and live music. The club are also looking at the possibility of running a free bus to the races if there is sufficient interest. Kilmore Summer Camp
There is great interest in this years summer camp which gets underway on Monday the 12th of August and runs until Friday the 16th of August. All children aged from 5 to 12 Is welcome to attend but places must be booked by contacting Clare Caslin on 087-9471081 this week so as to confirm the staff numbers required.
 
Other News
We wish John Gannon and the Roscommon minor team the best of luck as they take on Kildare on Monday next in Tullamore at 4pm. 4 members of our club are attempting challenge of driving through the 32 counties of Ireland in 24 hours in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Brian Carroll, Clare Caslin, Gary Vesey & Trevor Hunt will attempt this challenge on Friday the 25th/Saturday 26th of October 2013. All funds raised will go to the Irish Cancer Society. We will have more details in the coming weeks. We will also have details in the next few weeks of an exciting fitness and weight loss event that Kilmore GAA will be organising in September and October. More Details soon!!
